Whether it is in the pool, on the deck, in the changing rooms, or in the way that they represent their pool in the community, these award recipients live these values and are a role model for their peers.

Emma Ploeger

Goodman Waves

Emma has been a member of the Goodman Waves for 5 years. They are a talented swimmer and diver, but what is most impressive about Emma is their commitment to being a supportive teammate, kind friend, and outstanding leader on the Waves Swim and Dive Team. Emma is a member of the Waves Athlete Leadership Team, an organization which strives to ensure a supportive, inclusive, and motivating environment for all athletes. When applying for this position, Emma communicated that their favorite thing about the Waves Swim and Dive Team is the culture of acceptance, particularly for people belonging to the LGBTQ+ community. Emma has played in integral part in fostering our team’s inclusive community by advocating for their needs and for the needs of others. By joining the Athlete Leadership Team, Emma has moved beyond leading by example, and has accepted the responsibility of directly influencing team culture, striving for accessibility and inclusivity for all. Emma is, without a doubt, the most outstanding example of positive sporting behavior on the Waves Swim and Dive Team. Thanks for being you, Emma!

Nora has always been a leader on our team at Hawks. She exemplifies the character that both Hawks Landing and the All-City League strive for in their swimmers and divers—both in and out of the pool. Her steady commitment has not only helped her grow as an athlete, but has also inspired those around her to do the same. Her commitment to uplifting others and honoring the values of the team makes her not only a role model, but a swimmer who truly embodies the spirit of sportsmanship. What Nora brings to the Hawks Landing team is immeasurable, and we are proud to recognize her contributions.

Greta Dietsche

Monona

Greta is an all round rockstar for the Monona Magicians. While being a competitive swimmer, she has taken on coaching both our Unified Crew (9 swimmers this year!) as well as our 8 and Unders. She consistently demonstrates flexibility and care with the varied needs of our Unified Crew. For years she has found ways to support the team with taking a lead on team fundraising for Second Harvest by personally connecting with local businesses, running our team Instagram page, making 10 and under meet cards each week and countless other tasks. What separates her from the pack is her ability to anticipate needs and to independently jump in to help. Her can do attitude and naturally inclusive spirit make her invaluable to our team.

Willy Schlecht

Nakoma

Even though he is new to the swim team, Willy has already shown not only great support cheering for his teammates, but has also stepped up and swam for older kid relays with a smile on his face, even though he’s only 6 years old! The coaches at Nakoma are very proud to recognize Willy for his sportsmanship!

Camden Siebert-Evenstone

Parkcrest

Despite an injury that kept him out of the water, Camden showed up to practice every day to encourage his teammates. He came to every meet to help the coaches take splits and cheered on his teammates during their races. He exemplified sportsmanship by helping wherever he could and cheering and uplifting his fellow teammates, even when he couldn’t participate in practices and meets.

Eve Pellitteri

Ridgewood

Eve is a positive role model for her teammates. She always goes all out on the team’s weekly dress-up days. She is willing to swim any events the coaches ask of her to help the team. She regularly cheers on her teammates from the end of the pool. Eve works very hard in practice and sets an excellent example for her teammates to follow. We’re thankful to have Eve as a Ridgewood Greenbun!

Teo Figueroa

Seminole

Teo has been setting a consistent positive example. He is a role model for his peers and teammates by consistently working hard in the pool, being a good teammate by positively supporting them, and actively participating in our volunteering efforts.

Ava Sainsbury

Shorewood Hills

Ava shows up to every practice ready to work—no matter the weather, she jumps in with energy and determination, motivating her teammates to do the same. Her positive attitude is contagious, and she strikes the perfect balance between working hard and having fun. Ava consistently shows integrity by including everyone—whether it’s a game at practice or a moment at a meet—and by standing up for what she believes is best for the team. Her humility sets her apart: she’s selfless, never in it for herself, and always focused on the bigger picture. Whether it’s cheering from the sidelines or swimming any event the team needs, even the toughest ones, she leads with quiet strength and unwavering support. Ava is a true role model and the embodiment of sportsmanship.

Fiona Tokheim

West Side

Fiona is an incredibly kind and supportive teammate. She cheers for all of her teammates, both at meets and in practice. At practice she has been known to swim back to the middle of the pool after she finishes a set to cheer teammates all the way into the wall as they finish. She welcomes everyone into her lane and always treats them like a friend. She is also a super hard worker, and is always trying to push herself to become a better swimmer.

We will recognize the award recipients during the All-City swim meet, and our generous award sponsor, Ian’s Pizza, will provide each award winner a free pizza from Ian’s and will make a donation to Second Harvest on their behalf.

Local Pools Supporting Food Access

Throughout the summer, the 13 All City Swim League swim & dive teams compete hold food drives and raise money for the Second Harvest Food Bank in a friendly competition to help ensure that everyone in our community has access to nutritious food. This is a fun team-building opportunity that also provides volunteer experience while we give back to our community.

Since 2008, the league has provided more than 1.9 million meals with their combined efforts!
